ABOUT
David Phillips, author of the critically acclaimed book ‘A Drummer’s Perspective’ continues his photographic record of legendary drummers with powerful images that give a fascinating insight into the world of percussion.
The new book, From the Riser: A Drummer’s Perspective II, is a stunning collection of over two hundred and seventy live action drumming photos brought together in a large format coffee table book. The foreword is written by the Neil Peart of Rush.
Over 130 drummers featured including:
Stewart Copeland (The Police), Neil Peart (Rush), Lars Ulrich (Metallica), Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters), Joey Kramer (Aerosmith), Jonathan Moffett(Michael Jackson), Travis Barker (Blink-182), Tommy Lee (Mötley Crüe), Billy Cobham (Miles Davis), Ian Paice (Deep Purple), Ginger Baker (Cream), Roger Taylor (Queen), John Blackwell and Sheila E (Prince), acclaimed percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie, Derrick Wright (Adele) and many more.
“Not many photographers have captured that performance art as well as David Phillips has, in his first book, and even more in this one. One accomplishment is simply collecting photographs of so many of today’s prominent drummers, but the greater gift is delivering such iconic images of each one.”
